Regional Ayurvedic Research Centre, Dimapur
The Regional Ayurvedic Research Centre (RARC), Dimapur, Nagaland, is a constituent establishment of the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), functioning under the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, New Delhi. Established in 2019, RARC Dimapur stands as the only Ayurvedic research institution in Nagaland, dedicated to advancing research and development in the field of Ayurveda and medicinal plants. Situated in the commercial city of Dimapur, the Centre plays a pivotal role in promoting traditional Indian medicine and providing Ayurvedic healthcare services through its Outpatient Department (OPD). The institute focuses on addressing the specific health challenges faced by the people of the North-eastern Region and particularly Nagaland. In 2021, the Centre expanded its scope of activities by establishing the Survey of Medicinal Plants Unit (SMPU) and an indexed herbarium facility. This unit is actively engaged in conducting Medico-Ethno-Botanical Surveys (MEBS) across Nagaland and Manipur, with the aim of documenting, conserving, and scientifically validating the rich traditional knowledge and biodiversity of the region.

Regional Ayurvedic Research Centre (RARC), Dimapur, Nagaland, a constituent unit of the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) under the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India.
Established in 2019, RARC Dimapur is the only Ayurvedic research institution in Nagaland, dedicated to promoting Ayurveda through quality healthcare, clinical research, and the study of local medicinal plants.
The centre undertakes various Intramural Research (IMR), Extramural Research (EMR) and IMR Collaborative projects focusing on local medicinal plants and pharmacognosy studies. The Centre also participates in national programmes. Our Outpatient Department (OPD) provides Ayurvedic healthcare services to the community, while the Survey of Medicinal Plants Unit (SMPU) and herbarium facility focus on documenting and conserving the region’s rich medicinal plant biodiversity through Medico-Ethno-Botanical Surveys (MEBS) in Nagaland and Manipur.
The Centre also functions as a Peripheral Pharmacovigilance Centre, ensuring the safety and efficacy of Ayurvedic medicines.
We remain committed to integrating traditional wisdom with modern research to promote evidence-based Ayurveda for the well-being of society.
